Yes, the bios on the right column are way out of date.... Each kid has aged a year since I last updated. If I am sharing my blog link with someone, say to share Lina's amazing story which has been the main reason I share it anymore... I would pop on and update the bios, and that's about all I would do.
So, I will give you a brief update, and you can leave me a comment to let me know if anyone is still out there and if I should continue to take some time to share a piece of our little world. :)
Kaylin is now 16 years old, a junior in high school, and has her learner's permit. ACK! She's only been out driving briefly twice and needs a LOT more practice..... I have been torn whether or not to try to carve out more practice time on our own before signing her up for her driving time with Driver's Ed, or if I should just bite the bullet and let the driving instructor do most the work. Ha! Any advice out there?? She really isn't ready to go on the road yet- we've only been practicing in a large empty parking lot.... but I was wondering if just putting her with the driving instructor would give her what it takes to make that big step. HELP!!
Justin is 14 and a freshman in high school, and so far having a great start in the "big leagues" as far as school goes. He joined marching band along with Kaylin and has been doing great. I am so glad he has that extra-curricular to make friends and excel in something right away. :)
Polina turned 13 this month (!!!) like how did that happen??? She started middle school this year and is totally loving it. :) She looks forward to school each and every day, comes home with a big smile. While the rigor of her classes is definitely increasing, she handles it like a champ and thankfully isn't upset when something is very difficult. She does her best and moves right along. She is such an amazing human being! I pray the school staff will recognize how awesome she is, and see how beneficial inclusion is for her as well as her peers. I will have to designate a post (or three) just to that subject in the near future.
Evan is turning 10 next month, and I am in denial about that too! Ahhhh my baby is hitting double digits!! He's now in 4th grade and having a MUCH better start to the school year than years past- HALLELUJAH!! He was actually excited to attend the school open house and meet his new teachers, and has been happy to get on the bus every morning. His behavior reports are mostly good :) which is far better than how we ended the school year last year. I already have an IEP meeting coming up this week to take him off diploma track (I will elaborate on this in a future post as well) which was not an easy decision. Praying we are doing what's best for him.
As for me, I have been keeping busy volunteering between the three schools and substitute teaching occasionally at the elementary school. I have debated about trying a half day at the middle school but haven't gotten the courage yet. EEK! Once Evan starts middle school in a couple years I most likely won't be able to continue subbing at the elementary school since he will be home an hour earlier, and Kaylin will be off to college (double EEK!!). We'll see how Justin feels about watching his brother for an hour until I get home.... :)
